Natural Colours

SK Iyer

Nature's green spread over,
on the bank of the river,
nice bed for a siesta,
enveloped in the coolness
of frolic summer breeze,
under the shade of the trees.
Kingfishers sit in the bushes,
white ducks are ashore,
birds rest in the trees,
water hums to the tune of flow,
a song on solitary silence,
accompanied by a woodpecker's tappings.
Leaves rustle as the breeze blows,
yellow leaves fall from foliage.
A chameleon in green, mingles with leaves,
dry brown leaves compete with breeze,
sky shows its nudity in blue,
drowsy eyes close their lids,
paving the way for a dreamy darkness,
under the shiny afternoon sun.
